The 2005 meeting of North American Society of Obstetric Medicine and a joint collaborative educational course with the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine (SMFM) is being held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine (SMFM) on February 8-12th, 2005 in Reno, Nevada. It will begin on February 8th with a day long educational course on medical problems in pregnancy, co-sponsored by NASOM and SMFM. For information about registration for this course as a stand alone meeting or as part of the entire SMFM meeting, please watch the SMFM website at www.smfm.org in the weeks ahead.

This day long course will be followed by a free NASOM focus group on the evening of February 8th. This session will offer both an internist's and a maternal fetal medicine physician's perspective on the role of thromboprophylaxis for caesarean delivery and the use of oral hypoglycaemic agents in pregnancy. It should be a lively discussion.

On the morning of February 9th, 2005, NASOM will have its annual scientific meeting with presentation of abstracts of research in progress or completed research and interesting case reports. Trainees and junior faculty are encouraged to present. There will also be invited speakers giving updates on HIV, neurology and thyroid disease in pregnancy. It promises to be an excellent meeting and a great opportunity to collaborate.
